SASSA proudly hosted the 3rd Annual Somali Independence Day Celebration on Sunday, July 6, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the RCTC Field House.
This year’s celebration was held at Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) and brought together community members in a joyful display of culture and unity.
We were honored to welcome the HIDDO SOOR band along with the renowned artist Nimcaan Hilac, who performed traditional dances and patriotic songs that energized the crowd.
The event was well attended, and the community came together in large numbers to celebrate Somali culture and independence.
This activity was made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.”**
