At our core, SASSA exists to be a bridge between opportunity and access. We serve as a trusted resource for immigrant families navigating new environments while honoring cultural identity and traditions. Through our programs in coding, wellness, youth engagement, and community advocacy, we help foster leaders, build stronger families, and empower communities to create lasting change.

Our Mission

The Somali American Social Service Association (SASSA) was established to rebuild the immigrants of Olmsted County through education, health, and programs that promote success (coding, wellness, etc.). The Somali-American Social Service Association’s mission is to establish initiatives for sustainable development programssuch as public health, public education, advocacy, empowerment of women, and small business support.SASSA’s initiatives include addressing the most sensitive issues within the local Somali community in Minnesota regarding youth drug use, violence, and lack of proper education.

Our Vision

The Somali American Social Service Association’s vision is to provide the local Somali community with educational, recreational, cultural, health, and lifelong learning opportunities. The citizens of Somalia have suffered in terms of maintaining health due to a lack of education. Shortly, the Somali American Social Service Association will help address the most basic needs of the Somali community in Olmsted County.

From securing major grants to receiving honors such as the Mayor’s Medal of Honor – Champion of Diversity, our work continues to be celebrated for driving meaningful change in education, health, and community development.

Through culturally responsive programs—ranging from health education and youth mentorship to violence prevention and family support—SASSA empowers individuals and families to build healthier, more resilient futures.

Career Develop

SASSA supports pathways to success through career readiness, small business development, and skills training. Our initiatives, such as coding and workforce development programs, equip youth and adults with the tools needed to pursue meaningful careers, achieve economic stability, and contribute to the local economy.
